I am FOR:
Even if there is a law prohibiting "distracted driving", one specific to the use of cell phones while driving should be enacted for safety's sake. (The Department of Defense has had the good sense to ban them while driving on military bases).
A 3 - 5 cents per gallon increase in the state gas tax. Why? Virginians and tourists alike would add much-needed revenue to a Transportation Fund for road and bridge projects (money collected here must remain here).
Offshore GAS exploration makes sense, but - in my opinion - not oil due to the potential for disaster to East Coast beaches (see below under AGAINST). (see note below as well)
Good schools; good quality education for K-12 and at the 2-year and senior colleges in VA.
2-terms for Virginia's Governor, if voted back in by the voters after his/her first term.
Require large companies to give a minimum of 60 days' notice to their workers - and to the Commonwealth of Virginia - in the event of mass layoffs or plant closings.
Senior citizens, who have been certified as terminally ill, the right to die with dignity.
To deter bank robberies, banks post signs ASKING customers to shed their caps, sunglasses and "hoodies" which tend to foil security cameras.
Although I am not a gambler personally, legalized gambling (slot machines, video poker, etc.) could provide a good source of revenue (taxes) for the state budget. Casinos are now legal in 40 U.S. states.
(Note: However, Norway has been drilling for decades in the North Sea with reasonably good environmental results).
I am AGAINST
Tolls, imposed by Virginia, especially on Federal Interstates (I95, I85, etc.) which are funded by federal tax dollars (double taxation?).
ILLEGAL immigration (and any tax dollars spent on those who are not legally in the U.S.A.).
Socialized medicine (Democrats are FOR it)
Socialized energy taxes (Democrats are FOR it)
