| Virginia Business, a General Statement |
Governor Bob McDonnell has articulated a strong, market-based agenda to get Virginia's economy back on track. He moved Virginia from 37th in the Country in job creation to 7th and reduced the Virginia unemployment well below the natinal average. The Democrat leadership has stood as an impediment to Governor McDonnell's agenda as they try to hang on to the failed policies of the Kaine administration. As your next State Senator, Steve Hunt will be an active advocate for the Governor's positive agenda.
The Federal government's so-called "stimulus" program ultimately does nothing to restore long-term prosperity. Instead, the resulting trillion dollar deficits and tax hikes will have the opposite effect. Only the free enterprise system can create real jobs.
Steve Hunt believes that government's role in the economy should be to foster an environment where businesses can flourish and expand their work force. This in turn enables a higher standard of living, allowing people to buy homes, afford healthcare and send their children to college.
Steve believes that government intervention in the economy should be focused on penalizing fraud and preventing practices that harm people, pets and property, not in bureaucrats trying to micromanage industries. Source: www.stevehunt.org (07/19/2011) |
All Virginians deserve an opportunity to earn and maintain meaningful employment. With nearly 1 in 10 American workers unemployed, many of us have family or know friends who have lost their jobs. This is unacceptable. Strong government policies to spur economic growth and strengthen the private sector are what we need to protect jobs and minimize unemployment in our community.
Stable government policies will promote a business friendly atmosphere, which must be centered on low taxes, providing businesses with tax incentives for job creation, reducing regulation that stifles growth, and promoting a fiscally responsible government that lives within its means and refrains from continuing to heavily tax businesses and individuals.
As the Chief Operating Officer of a small business in Virginia, I will use my business experience to fight for the policies we need to create jobs and stimulate growth. And I will provide steadfast leadership to guide our community to more prosperous times. Source: jasonflanary.com/issues (07/19/2011) |
